Ain’t nothin’ really changing but the date.

I’m aware that this is yet another pointless overreaction to something in a lifestyle supplement, but the fatalistic acceptance of austerity rhetoric – and its falseness – here displayed staggers me. Given the blatant socio-political injustice laid out in that first paragraph, why would your next step be smug anticipation of poverty food chic? Which, I might add, sits uneasily next to another front-page splash on the shocking news that being poor can often mean you eat shit food. Not to mention this typically ridiculous tourist excursion into the land that common sense forgot (‘LOL, like, what would happen if you did something totally RANDOM with a bit of a tragically apparent edge of guilty self-indulgence, like just eating crisps?’). Also worrying in that first article is the awful preachy “material abundance has spiritually ruined us (read: them)” pondering. Also of course I just hate everything today.
